Spring Time!

I love this time of year. It has always been my most favorite. It's the only time of year in Texas when you can play outside almost everyday, and it's neither too hot or too cold. It's just perfect. Blue skies, flowers blooming, no mosquitos. The days are so beautiful that I actually feel guilty when I take a nap because I am wasting the time to enjoy the day. I am really excited to be having a baby during this wonderful season. It will soon be my favorite in one more way.

On Saturday morning we got to enjoy being outside for our neighborhood "Eggstravaganza." They did an Easter Egg hunt and had a bunch of little carnival type things set up for the kids to do. It was great fun. I always get such a kick out of watching all the sweet little families together on days like that. It makes me feel like I'm on a movie set where everyone is happy and getting along perfectly as they enjoy the day together. It's how it should always be.

Tyler got to hold a baby bunny! This is the best picture I could get, because it was very crowded around these baby bunnies. They were quite popular.

Last year, we waited in line for the pony rides and Tyler decided he was afraid of them when it was finally his turn. I was excited that he wanted to do it this year and he didn't chicken out!

He also got to bowl for bunnies with big eggs, pull some ducks out of a pond, make a bunny mask, and visit a petting zoo. We skipped out on the jump houses and ferris wheel ride.

Todd has spent the last couple of weekends trying to revive our yard after the winter. The majority of his time was taken up by raking out all the dead grass to make room for the new, happier grass to grow in. Tyler was a big helper and loved being out in the yard with Daddy.

We are all set for our little Allie to arrive. Tyler painted a picture frame to give to her as a welcome present when he finally meets her. I'm all excited because the ban against kids at the hospital has been lifted, and Tyler will be able to visit us while we're there. Yipee! Allie has chosen to give a special big brother camera to Tyler when she meets him. That way, he will be able to take lots of pictures of his new sister. She will have to pick one out to put in her picture frame he made!

Tyler keeps getting "bigger" everyday. When I ask him how he got to be so smart or so strong he will tell me, "It's because I'm bigger now Mommy." Of course.

Stickers are his most favorite thing to do these days. He could sit and put stickers on paper for hours if he had the chance. Today he decided to count all the stickers he had put down on the paper. There were 18 of them, and he counted from 1-14 perfectly, all by himself, before he asked for help with the last four. I was very impressed.

At church yesterday, we were given a big sheet of Easter stickers. When I pulled them out today, Tyler started telling me the whole Easter story as he chose each sticker. He would carefully place it on the paper and then tell me another detail of what happened before adding another sticker. He was like a little teacher telling a story to his class with props. It was so adorable. I love that he knows the story so well and that he is able to tell me about it in his own words. He even has the excitement when he talks about Jesus coming out of the tomb (yes, he uses that word). Tyler says, "He's alive! Mary doesn't have to be sad." And I get to tell him that we don't have to be sad either. Jesus died and came alive again just for us, because he loves us so much! That news is definitely my favorite part about this time of year.
