Since we live so close to Old McDonald's Farm, Tyler often asks when we will get to go there. I tell him how it is best to go on a pretty day because you are outside the whole time you're there. So, when spring came, it was time to check out this little farm we always see on the way to preschool. We went on the first Saturday in May, and it was already pretty hot, but not too bad.
It was really fun to be able to walk right into some of the animal pens to feed them. We spent about three hours there doing all sorts of fun things. We got to ride a train, feed the animals, play on giant playgrounds, go on a pony ride, have a picnic and play tetherball. And afterwards, we all went and got snow cones to cool off. Allie didn't even realize they were suppose to have syrup on them. She was happy with the ice!
Luckily, Allie didn't mind spending most of our time there in her stroller.

First we tried to feed the emu, but he was more interested in swimming than he was in eating.
This was a mommy goat. We couldn't go in her pen because we weren't allowed to visit with her little kids yet. They sure were cute to watch though! I liked how she would climb up the fence to ask for food.
The sheep were definitely my favorite part of the day. They were so friendly and they were all talking! All their little "baaa, baaa, baaaaa" noises were so cute. We talked back to them in sheep language and they knew exactly what we were saying.
The pot-bellied pigs were pretty ugly, but Tyler still liked feeding them too.
Tyler was sure to thank the cow for all the milk it makes for him everyday. It was really funny.
And Allie waved at all the animals from her stroller.
Lunch time!

Cute family!

After lunch, Tyler enjoyed playing on the giant pile of sand. They even had big dump trucks to play with and haul the dirt around. This is much cooler than our little sand box in the back yard!
And Allie watched. There was no way I was going to let my clean baby girl play in all that dirt.
Tyler also liked the giant playground equipment. This was one of the things he often admired from the road when we drove by the place. Now he finally got to test it out.
The horse swing was pretty funny.
And Tyler got to do a pony ride.
You would never believe that he was too scared to get on a pony just a couple of years ago!
I also need to document the fact that Todd and I tried to play a game of tetherball together. We didn't make it far into the game before I got smacked in the face with the ball and my sunglasses split in two! It was hysterical. I couldn't stop laughing. And, while he was distracted, I got a few good hits in on the ball and won the game! Tyler was glad that he hadn't been wearing sunglasses when he played with Daddy.
It was a really fun family day. I hope we get a chance to go back sometime.
