Galveston 2010

This year we took a mini-vacation because we were not brave enough to take a real vacation with such a little baby. We found out, though, that Allie loves being on vacation. She was such a good girl the whole time. She was happy when she was awake, napped nicely, and nursed well in lots of different places. I couldn't have been happier with her.

We started taking annual trips to Galveston a few years ago, after Tyler turned one. It's such a fun, affordable thing to do with kids! This time I didn't want to go swimming because I couldn't imagine the thought of my sweet baby girl in that dirty water and sand. I was also concerned about her being out in the sun too much because she can't wear sunscreen until she's 6 months old. So, for our annual Galveston trip, we spent time doing some other things in Galveston besides swimming. We had such a good time!

We started out on the Strand, where we ate some lunch and walked around a little bit. Tyler loved the old fashioned candy and ice cream shop! Next, we headed for the aquarium at Moody Gardens. We spent the afternoon looking at all the fish and enjoying the soft music. Even Allie enjoyed being there. It was really very relaxing with the dark rooms and soft music. She was comfy as could be in her stroller! After Moody Gardens, we grabbed some sandwiches at Subway and went hunting for a great spot to enjoy our picnic on the beach.

Allie made our picnic extra memorable when she decided it would be a good place to roll over from her back to her tummy for the first time! She really liked laying around on the beach.

After dinner, we went for a walk along the water. At first Tyler was a little scared of the waves coming up to his feet, but he warmed up to it after awhile.

It was a wonderful little trip for our first vacation with two kids. It went so well that I am really looking forward to doing it again. What fun it will be to take them again next year and watch them play in the water together!
