It was an eventful weekend at the Perry house. Tyler turned 3 years old and we had some celebrating to do!
I am not one of those moms who can throw a birthday party a month after having a baby. I still feel unorganized most days, and that's just with my normal stuff. So it's a good thing Tyler didn't mind that there were no other kids at his birthday party. He was happy as could be to have all of his favorite people there in one place just for him. Almost our whole family was there. We had Grandma and Papa, Nana and Grandpa, Uncle Mike, Aunt Alicia and Aunt Stephie, and the dogs - Brady, Roxie, and Casey. Aunt Laura just delivered her baby boy the day before, so she had a good excuse for missing the big celebration.
Tyler had told me that he specifically wanted a carrot cake like Nana makes, decorated with jelly beans, gumdrops, and strawberries. He reminded me of this very often in the weeks leading up to his birthday. I asked him to help me decorate it. Since he had something specific in mind, I didn't want him to be disappointed. It turned out so pretty and he had such a fun time putting each piece of candy in it's place. He was so proud to show off his birthday cake to everyone at the party.

For dinner, we took Tyler to Chuck-e-Cheeses. We had never been there and thought it would be a memorable thing for him to do on his birthday.
I think he had fun, but I have no plans to go back. It was pretty crazy in that place! Good thing Nana volunteered to stay home with Allie. That little girl would have had brain damage after being in a place with so much noise! It was pretty cute watching Tyler and his daddy play games together, though.
We did all that celebrating on Saturday, so the next day on his actual birthday, things were a bit calmer. He got a special birthday breakfast before church. At night, he got to eat popcorn on the couch while he watched his new Mickey movie. That was a big hit.
It's official now. Tyler is a very big boy.
