We're back from our vacation to Colorado. It was fun to get away and do something different. Tyler and I especially liked having Daddy around more often then usual!
The trip started out just a little hectic. Tyler decided he did not like riding on airplanes. He cried and screamed for most of the 2 hour flight. Everyone around us put earphones on, and I got a few looks as well. Let me just say that we were thrilled to land in Denver and we tried not to make eye contact with anyone on the way off the plane! Next we had to get on a smaller plane in order to get to Durango, where we stayed for the week. Todd and I were very tense about getting back on a plane. Fortunately, Tyler was so exhausted from all of his carrying on during the first flight, that he slept the entire way for flight number two. Too bad this was the short one! It was a nice break for our ears and nerves.
Grandma and Grandpa Perry picked us up at the airport and we drove to the house where we stayed. It was really nice. There were horses just across the street. Tyler and Grandma went outside each morning to say hi to them or to watch for the train.

We did lots of fun things while we were there. We spent the first couple of days on the Alpine Slides in Purgatory. They actually changed the name, so it's now called Durango Mountain Resort, or something like that. It does sound much happier. Anyway, it was fun to ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain and slide all the way down on a little wheeled sled.

Tyler stayed at the bottom, of course and did his own thing while the rest of us took turns going down the slide. He loved smelling all the flowers where ever we went.
We saw a couple of good shows while we were in Colorado. We went to a theater one evening, and watched a singing show. Tyler didn't appreciate it like we did, so Todd watched most of it from the back of the room, with Tyler. What a nice Daddy. We also had a chuckwagon dinner, followed by some country music. It was very entertaining and the food was delicious. Tyler enjoyed the food and spent the rest of the evening asleep with Grandma. Before the show started, he liked walking around with Grandpa.

Todd and his Dad rented a jeep and took off for two days to do some off-roading and exploring.
It was very manly.
Tyler got to go shopping with the girls in all the little tourist shops downtown. He was a very good sport about it all.

On the last day, I got Todd all to myself, and Grandma & Grandpa got Tyler all to themself. Todd took me out in the jeep. We went to the top of a nearby mountain and did some hiking. It was really quiet and peaceful. There were waterfalls and wildflowers everywhere. It was really beautiful.

It was really nice to spend time with the Perry's. We don't see them often, so it was a treat to get a week with them! You will be glad to know that Tyler did a much better job on the return flights. He slept almost the whole way on both planes! 3 out of 4 flights isn't too bad. I think we could do it again...

I've been waiting on this post. What beautiful scenery in all the pictures. I'm glad that eventhough moments of the trip were challenging that you had a good time and that you would do it again.
