Burt's Bees

My search for the safest, affordable baby products has come to an end.  After spending way too much time on the Safety Database, and visiting several stores in search of reasonable products, I have decided to go with Burt's Bees.  Here's why...

I found several of the organic products at HEB, which I was thrilled about because I was able to smell them all and compare prices.  What I discovered was that they either had no fragrance at all (because that means there is no risk of dangerous hidden phthalates), or they smelled gross, or they smelled good but not like something that should go on a baby - more like dish soap.  I was about to just give up the thought of having that great baby smell in exchange for making sure my Tyler was safe.  Then I smelled the Burt's Baby Bee products.  They smell so good!  Now, they weren't on my official list, so I knew something must be wrong.  It must be the great smell.  But I was confused because they are an all natural product.  I went home to my computer to investigate.  The Burt's Bees website was so helpful.  They said that the only ingredients used are those that "have absolutely no suspected potential human health risks."
They also had a nice list of ingredients that they believe should never be used, along with the health risks associated with each ingredient.  They went on to describe processes that should never be used in creating the products.  They cause impurities that end up concealed in the product and aren't labeled on the ingredients list.

And so, I feel very comfortable using their products, knowing that they are aware of all the dangers, and are committed to keeping them out of their products.  Even though they use fragrance, I know that it does not contain phthalates or any other dangerous chemical.  The Cosmetic Safety Database automatically scores "fragrance" poorly because they assume that the fragrance is full of bad stuff.

I wish I had known how great they were before I started this big hunt.  I could have saved myself lots of time.  Hopefully, I'll be able to save you some time too!  The best  part is, you can buy these products at Target in the baby aisle.  California Baby is sold at Target also, and was rated well.  I just think it smells too girly for my little boy.

Yay... Burt's Bees it is. Good thing, we are getting down to the bottom of the only bottle of baby soap/shampoo we've ever used... it lasts a long time when you only use soap twice a week and a small amount at that... one of the plus sides of not having much hair.

I bought Burt's Bees today and you are right. It smells great and it made the best velvety soft lather in Caroline's hair.

I should have splurged on the lotion too. I'll have to get that next month.
