Since Todd is starting a new job, he had some vacation days to use up at the old job, and he took a week and a half off at the beginning of the month. I decided that we had to do something vacation-like while he was off, so we went to the Downtown Aquarium. We had never been and we kept hearing how fun it is!
We decided to go on a weeknight so it wouldn't be too crowded. It definitely was not crowded. We were pretty much the only people in the whole entire place. I felt as if they had it open just for us and we were the VIP guests. It was actually a little bit creepy.
Even at dinner, there were only a few other people in the restaurant. Our waiter must have been bored because he hung out at our table a lot and kept sharing random fish facts.
We were the only ones walking through the aquarium exhibit, so we were able to take our time and get a good view. Tyler like touching the starfish, but we couldn't talk him into petting the rays. He kept saying, "Daddy do it."
The tiger was active and fun to watch, but I didn't take any pictures of the real one! Oh well.
We rode the train twice, once in the daylight, and once in the dark. The first time we rode, we shared the whole train with one other family. The second time we rode, it was a private trip.
It was really funny because the same guy was operating the carousel and the ferris wheel. When we were done with one, he ran over to the other to start it up for us.
If you ever want to experience the aquarium with no crowds, go on a Tuesday night. But personally, I think there have to be at least a few more people for it to be really fun.
